On the morning of April 17, ZZU’s research group on Major Consulting and Research Project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering,“Research on the Ecological Environmental Protection and High-Quality Development Strategy of the Yellow River Basin”, held an online work promotion meeting. President Academician Liu Jiongtian, the project facilitator, attended the meeting, joined by more than 50 scholars and specialists, including the chiefs of the Yellow River Ecological Protection and Regional Coordinated Development Research Institute of ZZU and the project research core personnel.

Liu noted in his speech that ZZU, located on the shore of the Yellow River, as a national first-class university construction university and a “ministry-province joint construction” university, has long been actively focusing on the ecological and cultural construction of the Yellow River and actively serving the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. He said that at present, General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on overall prevention and control of the epidemic situation and economic and social development should be seriously implemented. In the meantime of ensuring the prevention and control of the epidemic situation, we should continue to carry out systematic research and fully discuss the theory basis, scientific and technological needs and key issues of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, and accelerate the implementation of the major national strategy for the Yellow River and provide services support as needed.

Liu gave a clear guidance on the subject research and made a comprehensive summary, introducing the key content of the subject research ideas, overall requirements and research methods, etc. He emphasized that subject research should adhere to the problem-oriented principle and strategic thinking, ensure top-level design, and fully reflect the characteristics of the discipline. He also put forward specific requirements and arrangements for the subject’s next-step research work.

The contact person of the project, Prof. Zuo Qiting, introduced the project’s research idea, research progress, results output, and the next phase of the research plan, meeting arrangements, work requirements, etc. The facilitators in charge of sub-projects introduced the research progress, next work plan and expected results of their respective topics.
