From January 12th to 13th, the International Forum on Education and Development: Strategic Policy and 21st Century Literacy was held at ZZU. President Academician Liu Jiongtian was present. Li Rongan, the chief professor of School of Education, Wang Ruzhe, president of Taichung University of Education, Mark Bray, special lecturer of East China Normal University, and other experts and scholars from home and abroad, as well as teachers and students from School of Education attended the forum.
Liu Jiongtian pointed out that as a gathering place for talents and knowledge, the university must focus on the theoretical frontier of social development, provide policy advice, play an important role in cultural and spiritual value orientation, spiritual cultivation, social radiation, etc., enhance citizen literacy and lead social and cultural development. He said that this forum set up a good platform for academic research on education development. He hoped to conduct in-depth exchanges, promote construction of relevant disciplines and help Central Plains become more brilliant.
Li Rongan introduced UNESCOˊs ongoing efforts to improve 21st century literacy and skills. He pointed out that the forum was held to focus on the development of education and citizen literacy in the 21st century. The sharing and exchange of experience among experts and scholars will greatly promote the related work of Research Center for Central Plains Education Development.
In the two-day forum, domestic and foreign scholars made special reports on the promotion of 21st century skills and sustainable education, Research Center for Central Plains Education Development as a policy think tank, the structure of moral education, etc.(translator Yang Qiuqiu)
