Recently, the first international seminar on cross-cultural Chinese characters sponsored by the School of Literature and the Chinese Character Civilization Research Center of ZZU was held in Zhengzhou. Vice-President Zhang Qianhong was present. Nearly 200 people attended the seminar, including overseas Chinese character research experts from Germany, South Korea, Canada, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan and other countries and regions, as well as experts and scholars from well-known universities and research institutes.
Zhang Qianhong said in her speech that in order to give full play to the advantages of ancient writing resources in Henan Province, ZZU established the Chinese Character Civilization Research Center in 2016, having achieved outstanding results in various aspects in the past two years. She hopes to take this seminar as an opportunity to further enhance the academic level and research strength of ZZU language and writing disciplines, contributing to the construction of first-class universities.
Professor Wang Ping, Director of the Overseas Chinese Character Culture Research Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Ruan Junqiang, Dean of the Hannan Research Institute of Vietnamese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Shi Keli, Deputy Dean of the East Asian College of the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany, Professor Li Guijia, President of the Korean Chinese Language Association, and Professor Sasahara Hiroyuki of Waseda University in Japan delivered speeches.
During the seminar, experts and scholars presented an academic report on topics like East Asian inion on Chinese characters, Japanese ancient dictionary, kokuji and Chinese characters philosophy, discussing them in groups.(translator Yang Qiuqiu)
