On April 16, the internationally renowned structural biology expert Pro. Dinshaw J. Patel, who is a member of American Academy of Science and American Academy of Arts and Sciences, visited ZZU with his delegation. Academician Liu Jiongtian, President of ZZU, and Vice President Wu Hongyang of ZZU met with the guests, joined by relevant units chiefs from the school.

President Liu introduced the construction and development of ZZU. He noted that ZZU’s disciplines related to structural biology including “Clinical Medicine” “Biology and Biological Chemistry” “Pharmacology and Toxicology” and other relevant disciplines, have entered the world’s top 1％ of ESI ranking. He hoped that Pro. Patel could fully exert his academic influence and further enhance the exchanges and communication with relevant disciplines of ZZU to promote win-win cooperation.

Pro. Patel expressed his wish to carry out cooperation with ZZU in the fields of scientific research, talents training, international communication by focusing on disciplines related to structural biology.

After the meeting, Pro. Patel made an academic report titled “Structural Biology Studies on the RNA-Mediated Gene Silencing” for students and teachers of ZZU. During his visit, he also investigated the Institute of Drug Discovery & Development, Modern Analysis and Calculation Center of ZZU and ZZU Academy of Medical Sciences. (translator Song Gencheng)
