From October 10 to 15, after visiting ZZU, Prof. Ferid Murad, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, Prof. Dan Shechtman, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, and Prof. George Smoot, Nobel Laureate in Physics respectively signed cooperation agreements with ZZU and gave a special report during their visit. President Academician Liu Jiongtian, Vice President Qu Lingbo, and Vice President Han Guohe met with the three guests.

President Liu introduced the outstanding achievements of ZZU in all aspects. He hoped that the three professors could deepen cooperation with ZZU in related fields by bringing us cutting-edge academic information, improving our teaching and scientific research, and boosting the construction of “Double First-Class University Project”.

With full affirmation of the performance of ZZU, the three Nobel laureates expressed their willingness for cooperation and extended best wishes to the future of ZZU. Pro. Ferid Murad had visited ZZU in 2005 and had been appointed as a guest professor of ZZU. This visit further deepened his cooperation with ZZU and he was appointed as a member of the Zhengzhou University Overseas Council. Prof. Dan Shechtman and Prof. George Smoot were appointed as visiting professors at ZZU. At the same time, ZZU signed cooperation agreements with Prof. Murad and Pro. Smoot respectively, planning to send excellent teachers and students to their foreign laboratories for joint scientific research cooperation and personnel training, and set up a joint research platform at ZZU to carry out scientific research and industrial transformation.

After the meeting, three professors gave warmly-applauded reports respectively to ZZU teachers and students.

During the visit, the opening ceremony of ″ZZU Pro. Dan Shechtman’s Workstation″ was held, becoming the first Nobel Prize workstation ever in Henan Province, It will, supported by the team of Nobel Prize winners, grounded in local character, commit itself to the development of the global high-end industries in physics, biology, etc, and promote the gathering of high-end talents and the incubation of excellent projects.(translator Song Gencheng)
