Nobel Laureate Prof. Rolf M. Zinkernagel Appointed as Visiting Professor at ZZU

On November 29, Prof. Nobel laureate Rolf M. Zinkernagel came to the First Affiliated Hospital for academic visit and exchanges, and was appointed as a visiting professor at ZZU and a part-time professor of the First Affiliated Hospital and an Honorary Dean of Cancer Hospital.

During the visit, Rolf M. Zinkernagel visited the campus of No.1 Hospital affiliated to ZZU in ZhengDong New District and made an academic report entitled “The Specificity of Immunotherapy for T Cells in Treating Viruses and Tumors and the Road to My Nobel Prize” there. He highly praised the development and achievements of ZZU and the First Affiliated Hospital in recent years.

Rolf M. Zinkernagel, recipient of Order of Australia, Professor in experimental immunology, University of Zurich, and Director of Institute of Experimental Immunology. He shared the 1996 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Australian scholar Peter Duchy for jointly discovering how the immune system recognizes the virus-infected cells.(translator Song Gencheng)
