On Jan.8, the Commendation Conference of State Science and Technology Progress Award commenced in the Great of the People in Beijing. Party and state leaders including Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Gaoli and Wang Huning attended the conference and awarded the representatives of winners.

There are two research fruits by ZZU that won the prizes of State Science and Technology. One is the second prize winner for 2017 Natural Science, “Study of the Structure and Function of Brassinosteroids and other Receptor Kinases”, whose main completers are Prof. Chang Junbiao and Prof. Song Chuanjun from School of Chemistry &Molecular Engineering. The other is also a second prize winner, the book Popularization Series of Kidney Diseases with Prof. Liu Zhangsuo from No.1 Hospital Affiliated to ZZU as the eｘecutive chief editor.

State Natural Science Award is regarded as the most valuable and prestigious to receive. Being the main completer, Prof. Chang’s “Study of the Structure and Function of Brassinosteroids and other Receptor Kinases” won the second prize, which is the second time of winning such a prize for Henan Province, reflecting a remarkable enhancement of original innovation capability of Henan in the field of basic research. With Prof. Liu as the eｘecutive chief editor, “Popularization Series of Kidney Diseases” won the second prize, realizing a zero breakthrough of science popularization fruit for Henan, which is also the first time of receiving a state science and technology award for western medicine in Henan.(translator Song Gencheng)
