From Jan.10 to 12, the 1st World Ice Dragon Boat Championship of IIDBF was held in Duolun, Inner Mongolia. 27 countries and regions sent their delegations to join this event, including UK, Bangladash,Canada, Finland, Germany, Hongkong China, Chinese Taibei, Russia and US, etc. ZZU Dragon Boat team, consisting of 15 undergraduates from School of Physical Eduction (Main Campus) attended the match on behalf of Chinese Second Dragon Boat Team did a good job in the eighth finals. This is also the second ZZU sports team after Korfball team, on behalf of national team playing in international competitions.

This competition has two stages: domestic matches and formal matches. In the domestic matches, ZZU Dragon Boat Team finished at the second place with its superb performance. It got the qualification of attending the formal matches on behalf of Chinese Second Dragon Boat Team. In the matches of Jan.12, ZZU Dragon Boat Team kept its resolve and reached the fifth place on straightaway competition of Four people 100 meters, the fifth place on straightaway competition of 12 people 100 meters, the sixth place on straightaway competition of 5 people 100 meters, and the seventh place on straightaway competition of 12 people 200 meters.

Mr. Luo Zhongyi, Chairman of International Ice Federation, and uinversity leaders including Niu Shucheng, Liu Jiongtian and Wu Hongyang respectively expressed their greetings and congratulations to the dragon boat teammates.(translator Song Gencheng)
