On June 2，2017 Healthcare Science and Engineering International Conference was held in ZZU. This activity was sponsored by Big-Data International Exchanges and Cooperation Committee, Chinese Health Information Association (CHIA), jointly undertaken by ZZU, The American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES), School of Computer, ZJU, School of Data Science and Computer of Sun Yat-Sen University. In attendances were Academician Yao Jianshuan, Chinese Academy of Science, Prof. Ming Chyu from Texas Tech University, President Academician Liu Jiongtian, and Vice President Wang Zongmin, who were joined by nearly 300 experts home and broad, conference participants and ZZU faculty and students. The opening ceremony was chaired by Vice President Wang Zongmin.

President Academician Liu addressed at the Opening Ceremony. He noted that this conference not only set up a platform of academic exchanges for experts home and abroad, but also provided a strong impetus for the development of ZZU and Henan in related disciplines. He wished ZZU could take this conference as an opportunity to further promote cooperation and exchanges with leading universities, institutes of research home and abroad, thus jointly working for the progress of healthcare services.

Academician Yao made a special report entitled “Big Health, Big Wisdom and Big Data”, sharing his two important research fruits: one is scientific question and advanced technology of informationalized services for the elderly health, the other treatment-attendance combined Cloud-Service platform development and application demonstration for supporting the elderly.

Prof. Ming Chyu delivered a special report entitled “Healthcare Engineering--past, current, and future”, introducing emphatically the development history of health-care engineering, the current situation and the challenges ahead.（translator Song Gencheng)
