On June 4, the Final of 2017 Silk Road Robot Big Idea Contest was held in Xi’an Jiaotong University. With “Attracting Talents, Leading Silk Road Innovation” as the main theme, this event was sponsored by Chinese Association of Automation and Silk Road University Consortium, jointly undertaken by Secretary Office of Silk Road University Consortium, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Shanxi provincial department of Science and Techonology, Silk Road Training Base for International Engineering Technique and Knowledge, UNESCO. Altogether 98 domestic team from 16 provinces and 7 overseas teams from Silk Road University Consortium joined this competition. The work of ZZU team under the guidance of teacher Zhang Dawei from the school of Information Engineering, whose team members are Bi Cheng, Xie Yajun, Zhao Jinhua and Jiangshuai, etc., stood up from 105 competing teams, carrying away the Special Award.

At the Final, President Wang Shuguo of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Academician Li Yinghong from Chinese Academy of Engineering, President Li Zexiang of Shenzheng DJI technology, foreign Prof. Marie-Jean Throval, prof. Guy Genne from Washington University in St Louis, etc., attended the event and served as judges. ZZU’s Service Robot, Competition and Development Team attended the comprehensive contest in several rounds, such as PPT defense, Video Display and out-field Robot show-case, etc., displaying fully our creative works and creative thinking and strong practice capability of ZZU students.(translator Song Gencheng)
