On August 18, ZZU held 2017 Esophagus Prevention International Conference. Sponsored by Academy of Medical Sciences, ZZU, Wang Song, Vice Director-General of Expert Department of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports, State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, Xu Zongqin, Director-General of Henan Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, Vice President Liu Guoji and other experts and leaders attended the opening ceremony. More than 300 experts or scholars and postgraduates attended the conference, who were from Queen Mary University of London, King’s College, University of Southampton, Huston University, Rutgers University, Baylor College of Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Chinese PLA General Hospital, medical schools and departments of ZZU, affiliated hospitals and peer universities and research institutions. Nicholas Robert Lemoine, dean of Academy of Medical Sciences, served as chairman of conference.

Vice President Liu Guoji introduced in his speech about the general situation of ZZU and its medical disciplines. He noted that ZZU’s Esophagus Prevention as distinguishing and advantageous discipline, as one of the first batch of characteristic discipline, a major patchwork of “first-rate disciplines” construction, would further promote the application of research fruits in tumor control areas, and development of ZZU’s tumor control disciplines and facilitate the courses of internationalized construction of ZZU.

During the conference, 14 famous scholars and experts home and abroad compared notes and discussed the most recent research progress and frontier domains of this field’s research and clinics, interacting in total English with all the participants.(translator Song Gencheng)
