Recently, Prof. Jia Yu and his professor team of ZZU’s School of Physics Engineering and International Joint Laboratory of Quantum Functional Materials in Henan Province, together with the scientists from Korean Hanyang University and University of Science and Technology of China, have made positive progress in the research on the growth mechanism of nanostructures. The related articles “Dimensionality and Valency Dependent Quantum Growth of Metallic Nanostructures: A Unified Perspective” was published in the world-renowned journal Nano Letters (2016, Issue 16, Impact Factor 13.78), with Zhengzhou University as the first author unit.

Prof. Jia Yu’s and his team have done in-depth researches on the quantum growth of metal nanostructures, revealing that Friedel oscillation of electron waves generated at the boundary is the internal cause of the periodic stability of metal nanostructures. It not only provides a unified physical image for the quantum growth of metal nanostructures, but also finds a good explanation for a series of strange phenomena found in recent experiments. This research provides a unified physical image for the quantum growth of metal nanostructures. The publication of the research results indicates that Zhengzhou University has reached the international advanced level in this field.
