On January 9, the 2016 National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People. The party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan, Zhang Gaoli attended the conference and awarded the certificates for the winners. Professor Mai Wenning with his research team of school of water conservancy and environment of Zhengzhou University jointly with Nanjing University and other units completed “The key technology and equipment about the refractory organic industrial wastewater treatment and the toxicity emission”, this research result won the second prize of national science and Technology Progress Award.

After years of hard work, Pro. Mai with his research team has developed the anaerobic biological treatment technology and equipment based on the two-stage separation reactor and the catalytic oxidation processing technology and equipment based on fenton fluidized bed reactor. The research results have been put into refractory organic industrial wastewater treatment and the toxicity emission reduction, thoroughly solving these problems, which has been warmly applauded by enterprises. Used in the industrial wastewater treatment in more than 10 provinces and 100 enterprises, such as Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Jiangxi, Guizhou and so on, these research results have achieved significant environmental effects and social benefits, and made outstanding contributions to the development of society and economy.
