On the morning of August 15th, ZZU held the second graduation ceremony and degree-granting ceremony of 2020. The event adopted the form of “Cloud Graduation Ceremony” that was carried out simultaneously offline and online. More than 200 graduate representatives participated on site and more than1500 graduates watched online. The attendees on the podium were university leaders Song Zhenghui, Liu Jiongtian, Li Xingcheng, Gu Zhenqing, Xu Dongsheng, Guan Shaokang, Han Hanhe, Zhao Minghao, Dong Zigang, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, chief professor of the School of Chemistry Wu Yangjie, members of ZZU Academic Degree Committee, and the chiefs of the related departments of university authority as well as the chiefs of various units of ZZU. The ceremony was presided over by Gu Zhenqing, deputy secretary of ZZU party committee and chairman of the labor union.

The ceremony started with a 2020 graduation commemorative video. The frames and shots in the clips, triggered a strong resonance and warm memories of teachers and students by recording the moments of ZZU teachers and students in the war against Covid-19, reviewing the growth of ZZU students, and revealing the great development and changes of the university, and demonstrating ZZU’s spiritual character of “seeking truth and taking responsibility”.

During the majestic national anthem, ZZU’s 2020 second graduation ceremony and degree-granting ceremony officially kicked off.

Guan Shaokang, member of the Standing Committee of ZZU party committee and vice president, announced the degree-awarding decision of ZZU degree evaluation committee and presided over the awarding ceremony.

Liu Jiongtian, vice chairman of CPPCC Henan Committee and the president of ZZU, awarded degrees to the representatives of doctoral graduates, postgraduates, and graduates respectively.

The representative of undergraduates, Liu Jiaqi, from the School of Information Engineering, representative of postgraduates, Xiao Yang, from the School of Medical Sciences, representative of faculty and Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, Mr. Cao Yijun, and representative of parents, mother of Liu Haining from the School of Ecology and Environment student, Ms. Ning Xihong gave speeches respectively.

Liu Jiongtian gave a speech on the topic of “Choices of Learning, Attitudes of Life”. On behalf of ZZU, he congratulated the second batch of graduating students and thanked all teachers and parents.

Under the witness of all present, the graduates solemnly swore to express a firm commitment to the alma mater and themselves.

Teachers and students sang together “Ode to the Motherland” passionately. And with that, the second graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony of ZZU in 2020 came to an end.
