Recently, hosted bythe All-China Society for the History of Foreign Philosophy and the Society of Modern Foreign Philosophy of China and held by the School of Philosophy (Lao tzu College)ofZhengzhou University, the academic seminar themed “A Dialogue between Analytical and Speculative Philosophy” and the 2021 meeting of the Standing Council of All-China Society for the History of Foreign Philosophy and the Society of Modern Foreign Philosophy of China was held in the main campus of ZZU. Liu Jiongtian, vice chairman of the CPPCCand president of ZZU, Professor Jiang Yi, honorary chairman of the Society of Modern Foreign Philosophy of China, Professor Zhang Zhiwei, chairman of the All-China Society for the History of Foreign Philosophy, Researcher Shang Jie and Professor Han Zhen, president and vice president of the Society of Modern Foreign Philosophy of China, and Wang Lu, chief distinguished professor of the School of Philosophy of ZZU, attended the meeting. Experts and scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University and other well-known universities and research institutions, as well as teachers and students from School of Philosophy of ZZU attended the conference. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhan Wenjie, Secretary General of the All-China Society for the History of Foreign Philosophy.

Liu Jiongtian delivered a speech. He extended a warm welcome to all the experts and scholars on behalf of Zhengzhou University and briefly introduced the history of ZZU, the construction of a first-class university and the development of philosophy discipline. He expressed the hope that the School of Philosophy of ZZU would take this conference as an opportunity to strengthen academic exchanges and research and accelerate the construction of a research-oriented school with distinctive characteristics.

During the seminarof“A Dialogue between Analytical and Speculative Philosophy”,Professor Zhang Zhiwei, Professor Jiang Yi, Professor Wang Lu and Associate Researcher Zhan Wenjie gave a keynote speech respectively. Professors Fu Yongjun from Shandong University, Li Daqiang from Jilin University, Li Guoshan from Nankai University and Su Dechao from Wuhan University commented on the above four academic reports and raised questions respectively. Representatives present held a heated discussion.

Subsequently, the meeting of the Standing Council of All-China Society for the History of Foreign Philosophy and the Society of Modern Foreign Philosophy of China was held. Participants of the conference discussed topics such as the discipline construction of foreign philosophy and the compilation of relevant entries in the section of modern western philosophy in the philosophy volume ofEncyclopedia of China.
