On May 17, a joint conference on the discovery of the first PeVatrons and the highest energy photon at China's Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) was held in Beijing by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Zhengzhou University, as a member of the international cooperation group of the LHAASO, set up a Zhengzhou branch and held a forum. Qu Lingbo, member of the Standing Committee of the Party committee and vice president of the University, attended the event. Responsible staff members of the Publicity Department, Science and Technology Department and International Exchange and Cooperation Department, and leaders, teachers and students of the College of physics attended the event.
At the forum, Professor Shan Chongxin introduced the college's participation in the international cooperation group. Liu Haidong, a representative of young teachers, introduced the specific work and major scientific research achievements of LHAASO.
Qu Lingbo gave a speech. He said that in recent years, the school of physics hadactively participated in large scientific facilities such as the LHAASO and in international cooperation organizations, and hadmade great contributions to international cutting-edge science and technology. He hoped that more scientific research teams would join in international cooperation in the future, promoting the construction of world-class universities through international cooperation, and accomplishing the historical task of building an innovation highland in the central and western regions with outstanding achievements.
The research work was completed by the LHAASO International Cooperation Group led by the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
