Hosted by Zhengzhou University and organized jointly by Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University(INSE)and Business School at Zhengzhou University, the Inaugural Meeting of Institute of New Structural Economics at Zhengzhou University and Academic Seminar was held in Zhengzhou University on May 30. The meeting was attended by Lin Yifu, member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC and Dean of INSE, Jin Bei, member of CASS and Dean of ZZU' s Business School, and Li Gengxiang, Chairman of Henan Federation of Social Sciences, together with Vice-Chancellors from Party School of Henan Provincial Committee of CPC, Henan University of Economics and Law and Xinyang Normal University. The participants also includedSong Zhenghui, Party Secretary of ZZU, and some related experts and scholars. Qu Linbo, Vice-Chancellor and member of the Standing Committee of ZZU, presided over the meeting. In his speech, Song Zhenghui hoped ZZU's Institute of New Structural Economics would facilitate the economic theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics by deepening independent theoretical innovation
In his congratulation, Lin Yifu believed in response to Xi Jinping's call the institute would take the opportunity to boost the building of first-class university and first-class disciplines as a new platform of economic research in Zhengzhou University. Lin Yifu delivered a keynote speech titled Chinese Miracle and New Structural Economics after jointlyunveiling the plaque with Song Zhenghui for the institute.
In the afternoon, the experts and scholars from a dozen of universities (including Peking University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Nankai University, Zhengzhou University, etc.) had an in-depth discussion about some topics, like regional economic integration, thewillingnessof new-type professional farmers in farming, factor market distortion and resource allocation efficiency, and trade liberation and environmental pollution in the seminar with the theme of New Structural Economics and High-quality Development of Regional Economy.
