From June 15th to 19th, the judo trials of 17th China University Judo Championships and the 31st World University Summer Games, sponsored by Federation of University Sports of China(FUSC), organized by Judo Branch of FUSC, was held in Qian'an, Hebei Province. More than 300 athletes from 35 universities including Peking University, Zhengzhou University and Ocean University of China participated in the competition.

It was the first time for Zhengzhou University to organize a team to participate in this competition, among which Wenjie Zhang, a teacher from School of Physical Education of ZZU(on the main campus), served as the coach, and 14 members of ZZU judo team participated on behalf of ZZU. With their efforts and solidarity, the team finally won 1 gold medal and 3 bronze medals in Group C, and 6 bronze medals in Group A. The achievements demonstrated spiritual style of ZZU students and their competitive ability.
