Recently, Henan Institute of Advanced Technologyof Zhengzhou Universityhas made new progress in research aimed at overcoming the bottleneck of volume expansion in high-energy-density silicon-based anodes. The high lithium storage capacity of silicon-based anodes helps achieve high energy density, but they also face the challenge of large volume expansion, which affects cycle stability and conductivity. Unlike previous strategies aimed at limiting the pulverization of silicon-based particles, this study takes a different approach. It leverages the stress from silicon lithiation-induced volume expansion to activate a“mechanical-chemical”interface coupling reaction between single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and lithiated silicon clusters enables the in-situ anchoring of pulverized silicon clusters.
