On the morning of June 5, ZZU held a university-wide cadre meeting to announce the decision of the provincial party committee on the adjustment of ZZU party committee secretary. Wang Zhongmei, deputy director-general of the Organization Department of Henan Provincial Party Committee, Mao Jie, deputy director-general of the Provincial Department of Education, member of the Party Leadership Group, and Zhang Jingchen, director of No.5 Office of the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, attended the meeting. All university leaders and cadres at or above the intermediate leadership attended the meeting.

Zhang Jingchen read out the decision of the Provincial Party Committee on the adjustment of the Party Committee Secretary of ZZU: Comrade Song Zhenghui serves as the Party Committee Secretary of ZZU. Comrade Niu Shucheng no longer holds this position.

Wang Zhongmei pointed out in her speech that this cadre adjustment is a decision made by the Provincial Party Committee to focus on the reform and development of ZZU and to fully consider the construction of the leadership team of ZZU and the leadership team of colleges and universities in the province, carefully made on the basis of extensively consulting opinions and fully deliberating. Wang Zhongmei noted that Comrade Niu Shucheng no longer serves as party committee secretary of ZZU because of his age. She introduced the basic situation of Comrade Song Zhenghui, and hoped that he would adapt to his new role as soon as possible, unite and lead all cadres and employees of ZZU to seize opportunities, reform and innovate, work hard, and strive to achieve new and greater achievements.

Wang Zhongmei raised hopes and requirements for school team construction, reform and development. One is to enhance the political stance and unify thoughts and actions into the decisions of the Provincial Party Committee; the other is to strengthen the responsibility and shoulder firmly the historical mission of building a world-class university; the third is to adhere to cohesion of spirit and power to accelerate the development of substance and enhance the core competitiveness; the fourth is to strengthen party building and set a good example in vigorously creating an atmosphere of “study hard, be strict, and work hard ”.

Wang Zhongmei noted that ZZU should speed up its development with a good mental state, a solid work style and effective work measures, strive to creaｔe a first-class university, and make new and greater contributions to writing a more brilliant chapter in the new era.

In his speech, Song Zhenghui said that in his future work, he will take Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics as a guide for action, fully implement the party’s education policy, resolutely implement the instructions, decisions and arrangements of the provincial party committee, and resolutely implement the president responsibility system under the leadership of the party committee, focus on the goal of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, devote all the energy to ZZU’s party building and career development, build first-class disciplines and a first-class faculty, and run well first-class undergraduate education, live up to the trust of the organization, live up to the trust of hundreds of millions of people in Henan and the expectations of the masses of faculty and students, promote the construction of higher-level first-class universities, mobilize the connotative development of higher education in Henan, and make new great contribution for the construction of a strong educational province.

President Liu Jiongtian said in his speech that the provincial party committeeˊs adjustment of the school party committee secretary fully reflects the provincial party committee’s great concern with the construction and development of ZZU. Thanks to the provincial party committee’s care and support for the school, he firmly supports the provincial party committee’s decision and will steadily promote school’s career development in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Party Committee. He paid tribute to Comrade Niu Shucheng for his important contribution to the construction and development of ZZU, and welcomed Comrade Song Zhenghui to work at ZZU. He said that he will carry forward the excellent tradition of close unity of ZZU party and political team, fully support and cooperate with the work of the party secretary, adhere to the president responsibility system under the leadership of the party committee, and work with the members of the leadership team to gather teachers and students to form a strong joint force to further promote the school career and successfully complete the first-class construction tasks.

Niu Shucheng said in his speech that the decision of the Provincial Party Committee on the selecｔion of the party committee secretary of ZZU reflects the provincial party committee’s both ardent expectations for the development of university construction and high attention paid to the construction of university leadership team, and he himself fully supports the provincial party committee’s decision. He said he would continue to care for ZZU, support her, serve her, and contribute his own light and heat to the construction and development of the school.
