On November 21st, the "2020 Higher Education International Forum Annual Meeting", co-hosted by the China Higher Education and Zhengzhou University, was held in Zhengzhou. The theme of this forum is “Accelerating Modernization of University Governance Systems & Capacity Building”.

More than 20 leaders from Chinese government or universities were invited to offer insights and discuss issues in light of pandemic. The leaders include member of Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of Education P.R.C Zhong Denghua, a member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Committee and Minister of Publicity Department of Henan Province Jiang Ling, Vice Governor of Henan Province Huo Jinhua, President of the China Higher Education Association, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education Du Yubo, Vice President of the Association, and former Deputy Ministerial Full-time Member of t the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of PRC Guan Peijun, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Normal University Liu Chuansheng, , former Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiaotong University Jiang Sixian, President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Li Yuanyuan, President of Xi’an Jiaotong University Wang Shuguo, Secretary of Party Committee of Wuhan University Han Jin, President of Zhejiang University Wu Zhaohui, President of Sun Yat-Sen University Luo Jun, Secretary of Party Committee of Northwestern Polytechnical University Zhang Wei, President of Zhengzhou University Liu Jiongtian. In addition, Vice President of the Association Zhang Daliang, Vice President and General Secretary of Association Jiang Enlai, Chairman of Supervisors of the Association Sun Weijie, Secretary of the Party Committee of BEIHANG University Cao Shumin, President of Beijing Institute of Technology Zhang Jun, President of China Agricultural University Sun Qixin, President of Southeast University Zhang Guangjun, President of University of Science and Technology of China Bao Xinhe, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiamen University Zhang Yan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan University Wang Jianguo also attended the meeting. This conference was presided over by Lin Huiqing, the former member of Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of Education P.R.C, Vice President of China Higher Education.

Participants from abroad, including Representative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in China, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in China Igor Pozdniakov, Minister Counselor of the Australian Embassy in China Brooke Hartigan, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in China Pastupha Chinvarasopak, and Japanese Embassy in China First Secretary Kosuke SUGAWARA, Education Specialist of the Pakistani Embassy in China Muhammad Suleman Mahsud, Executive Vice President of Duke Kunshan University Alfred Howard Bloom, and Chief Representative of the University of Virginia China Representative Justin O'Jack, attended the conference and delivered a speech. 58 other experts and scholars outside China attended the conference via video, including Former Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Vice President of Moscow State University of Russia, First Vice President of Moscow University of Shenzhen Beili Sergey Shakhray, and Vice Chairman of the American Board of Education Brad Farnsworth.

114 guests from 27 countries and regions including the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Hungary, Canada, Australia, etc., and hundreds of universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Tianjin University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, etc. More than 1,200 people attended the conference, including senior leaders, experts and scholars. During the meeting, Hong Yin, Governor of Henan Province, met with experts and representatives who attended the forum.

Zhong Denghua, Jiang Ling and Song Zhenghui delivered speeches respectively. Du Yubo gave a keynote report entitled "Adapt to the needs of the new development pattern and promote the high-quality development of higher education"

In addition to the main forum, three parallel forums, namely "University Presidents Forum", "Scholars Forum" and "Doctoral Candidates Forum", were held for the first time. More than 100 experts and scholars in the field of higher education gave reports, with a total of 105 sessions. Affected by the epidemic, the annual conference was held in in the event on the spot or via network, and it was broadcast live synchronously in real time through central video. Up to now, the number of online viewers is approximately 1.55 million and the number of “like” exceeds 8.6 million.
