Zhengzhou University was established on July 10, 2000 on the basis of the amalgamation of the three former individual universities, namely the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University. ZZU covers 12 fields of study, including science, engineering, medicine, literature, history, philosophy, law, economics, management science, pedagogy, agriculture and arts. It is among the group admitted into Project 211, the sole university in Henan supported by the Midwest Universities Comprehensive Strength Promotion Project and co-sponsored by Henan Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education. ZZU has 46 faculties and 9 affiliated hospitals, offering 107 undergraduate programs, 55 master’s degree programs of the first-level disciplines, 237 master’s degree programs of the second-level disciplines, 21 doctorate programs of the first-level disciplines, 124 doctorate programs of the second-level disciplines, 23 post-doctoral programs, 1 professional doctorate, as well as 19 professional master’s degrees. There are over 6,000 full-time staff members, among whom 24 are members of CAS or CAE, with 6 being full-time and 18 part-time. Besides, the university has over 721 professors, over 1600 assistant professors and more than 1,700 teachers with the doctorate degree.
ZZU intends to recruit distinguished professors (guest professor) rewarded as “Yangtze River Scholar ”funded by ministry of education, and welcome the talents both at home and abroad in order to implement the strategy of “talents making ZZU stronger” and improve the construction of disciplines.
1. Post
The posts for “Yangtze River Scholar” as distinguished professor (or guest professor) are arranged to observe ZZU discipline construction and plan, and satisfy the need of raising innovative academic teams, key research project, and the developing disciplines. The posts cover 21 doctorate programs of the first-level disciplines: physics, chemistry, mechanics, materials science and engineering, information and communication engineering, mathematics, software engineering, the basic medicine, clinic medicine, public health and control medicine, science of nursery, public management, law science, Marxism, Chinese history, and world history.
2. Qualities
Qualities of Distinguished Professor
(1)The application limits to 1 January very year. The applicant for natural science and engineering technology is younger than 45 years old, and the applicant for human and social science than 55 years old.
(2)The applicant has owned the doctoral degree, and the first line experience of teaching and research. The applicant from overseas has assumed at least the post of assistant professor in high level institutes, and in China has assumed the post of professor or the same level post.
(3)The applicant is qualified for the key courses, and has made the important achievements which are admitted by the peers both at home and abroad. The applicant has had the innovative and strategic thoughts, and the ability to lead the discipline pass or keep the same with internationally advanced level, to lead and coordinate the academic team to overcome the difficulties.
(4)The applicant should observe the professional morals of high education university and have the devotedness.
(5)The applicant should work in ZZU in full time once recruited, and assume the post within one year of signing recruitment contact.
Qualities for guest professor
(1)The applicant has owned the first line experience of teaching and research in overseas high level universities and assumed post of professor or the same level post.
(2)The applicant has had the great influence in the discipline and made the important achievements which are admitted by the peers both at home and abroad
(3)The applicant should observe the professional morals of high education university and have the devotedness.
(4)The applicant should work in ZZU for more than 2 months in ZZU every year.
3.Treatment
The distinguished professor and guest professor will be supported in accommodation, housing fee and trigging fee according to “ZZU Suggestions of High Level Talents” and “ZZU High Level Talents Support Strategy” besides the priorities suggested by “Yangtze River Scholar Recruitment Rules” made by Ministry of Education
4.Application materials
The recommendation materials include the writing materials and electronic ones. The former includes the recommendation documents provided by school, the information table of all recommended candidates, the recommendation table of candidates and the attached files. The writing evaluation and other related materials of political behaviors of the candidates are forwarded by the Party committee (The agreements of Yangtze River Scholar candidate’s last working unit should be sent simultaneously). The later covers the recommendation table of candidates which can be automatically formed by Yangtze River Scholar application soft and attachments, whose contents should be in accordance with those of the writing materials. The recommendation table should be uploaded except the attachments.
When the materials are private, they should be protected by security techniques and demonstrated in the formal documents according to Law of the Peopleˊs Republic of China on Guarding State Secrets and Regulations on Security of Science and Technology.
