The School of Geo-Science and Technology at Zhengzhou University is a research-oriented college which focuses on the development of earth science disciplines, scientific research, and talent cultivation.

The school has 56 faculty members, including two academicians. Gao Jun, a famous academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is employed as the chief professor of remote sensing and geographic information discipline of the school.

The school has two secondary research institutions – the Institute of Geographic Information Science and Engineering and the Institute of Remote Sensing Science and Technology, alongside two teaching departments – the Department of Geographic Information Science and the Department of Remote Sensing Science and Technology – and one experimental management center.

In terms of platform construction, the school has participated in the construction of the National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou, established a joint laboratory of ecological meteorology with the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, established a data and application center in high-resolution Earth observation system, and more.

The school has also established a distinctive geological talent cultivation system. It offers first-level master's degree programs in the Science and Technology of Surveying and Mapping, and Geography. It also offers a master's degree program (professional degree) in Resources and Environment (Surveying Engineering). It offers undergraduate degrees in Geographic Information Science, Remote Sensing Science and Technology.

In recent years, more than 10 scientific research projects have been approved, including the National Key R&D Program and National Natural Science Foundation of China. The school has also developed a real-life 3D geographic information platform with independent intellectual property rights.

To boost academic exchange and cooperation, the school has established academic exchange relationships with universities and research institutions in multiple countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Germany. It has also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Meteorological Administration and actively carried out academic cooperation and exchanges with the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Geophysical Exploration Center of the China Earthquake Administration.
