Founded in 2019, the School of Ecology and Environment at Zhengzhou University focuses on cultivating professional, high-quality, and versatile talents who can independently engage in scientific research and development, industry and enterprise management, and other related fields in ecological environment and related areas.
The school has been offering undergraduate education for 36 years. Its Environmental Science program is a first-class undergraduate major in Henan province and its Environmental Engineering program is a national first-class undergraduate major.
The school offers a first-level doctoral program in Environmental Science and Engineering, a first-level master's program (academic degree) in Environmental Science and Engineering and a master's program (professional degree) in Resource and Environment. The first-level discipline of Environmental Science and Engineering includes second-level disciplines of Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering.
The school currently has 107 faculty members, four specially appointed professors, 16 doctoral supervisors and 84 master's supervisors. Among them, there is one national high-level talent, one chief scientist of the National Key R&D Program, and six high-level talents of Henan province, among others.
The school continues to enhance employment guidance and further education services, making the employment rate for undergraduate and graduate students remain high in the past two years.
There are 17 research platforms at all levels in the school, including one national-level research and promotion center and 12 provincial-level key laboratories. It has also established one academician workstation (Zhengzhou Energy and Environment Academician Workstation) and 14 research teams with strong research foundations and good development prospects.
Over the past five years, the school saw a total of 41 national-level scientific research projects and 47 provincial-level scientific research projects approved, with a cumulative research funding of over 150 million yuan ($20.91 million).
To boost international academic exchange and cooperation, the school has established cooperative relationships with universities such as the University of Dodoma in Tanzania and Tohoku University in Japan.
