The School of Mechanics and Safety Engineering at Zhengzhou University offers two primary academic disciplines: Mechanics and Safety Science & Engineering. Both are recognized as key first-level disciplines in Henan province.
The school has a doctoral program in Mechanics, as well as two master's programs in Mechanics and Safety Science & Engineering. It also offers a professional master's degree specifically in Safety Engineering. Additionally, the school hosts a postdoctoral research station in the field of Mechanics.
The school has two undergraduate majors – Engineering Mechanics and Safety Engineering, both of which are national first-class professional majors.
There are currently 98 faculty members in the school, including 17 professors, 39 associate professors, three researchers, and eight associate researchers.
The school has well-equipped teaching and research infrastructure, with one national-level international joint research center for micro nano forming technology and more than 10 provincial-level research platforms, including the Henan Province Key Laboratory of Microforming Technology and Henan Province Key Laboratory of Process Heat Transfer and Energy Conservation.
In recent years, the school has undertaken and completed more than 100 major and key scientific research projects at the national or provincial level. It has also won nearly 20 prizes, including the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award, the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the Second Prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
The school currently has nearly 1,000 undergraduate students and over 350 doctoral and master's students. The employment rate among graduates remains stable at over 90 percent.
In recent years, more than 1,000 graduates from the school have been admitted to high-level Chinese universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University, as well as renowned foreign universities in the United States and Canada for master's degree programs.
