The School of Architecture at Zhengzhou University grew out of the architecture program established in 1958, which began enrolling students in 1959 and now has over 60 years of history.
The school currently offers three undergraduate programs: Architecture, urban and rural planning, and landscape architecture, with architecture and urban and rural planning being five-year programs and recognized as national first-class undergraduate program development sites.
It also possesses two national first-level discipline master's programs – architecture and urban and rural planning – and a national second-level discipline doctoral program in Chinese architectural history and theory (heritage conservation).
The school hosts provincial-level research platforms such as the Henan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Building Energy Efficiency Design and Technology and the Henan Provincial International Joint Laboratory of Ecological Residential Areas and Innovative Technologies.
It has undertaken nearly 20 national-level research projects and initiatives, including those under the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) for science and technology support and key projects under the national research and development program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
The school currently employs over 90 faculty and staff, including more than 80 full-time teachers, over half of whom hold senior professional titles and doctoral degrees.
