The School of Chemical Engineering at Zhengzhou University offers three national first-class undergraduate programs: Chemical Engineering and Technology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering. It also has a postdoctoral research station in Chemical Engineering and Technology, along with first-level doctoral and master's degree authorization points, as well as professional degree authorization points for doctoral and master's programs in Materials and Chemical Engineering.
The school's research platforms include the national research and promotion center for calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer technology and the national engineering research center for chemical safety. It co-develops national key laboratories focused on bio-based transportation fuels, the comprehensive utilization and deep processing of coking coal resources, and heavy equipment for intelligent mining. It also has the engineering research center for advanced functional materials manufacturing of the Ministry of Education and the Henan provincial engineering laboratory for green mineral processing, metallurgy, and chemical engineering, among others.
The school currently employs 153 faculty and staff members, which includes 38 professors, 13 directly-appointed researchers, and 40 associate professors. It also hosts three academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and two academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In recent years, the school has completed two major projects, 15 project tasks and sub-tasks under China's National Key Research and Development Program. It also managed 72 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with an annual research funding average of over 30 million yuan (4.17 million). Its faculty have published 758 SCI papers, including 248 in Q1 journals, 69 EI papers, and 35 highly cited works. They have published 19 academic monographs, received 201 invention patents, and commercialized seven patented innovations.
The school has formed cooperative and talent exchange partnerships with over 20 universities across more than 10 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.
