Founded in April 1959, the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering is one of the oldest schools at Zhengzhou University. The school boasts a strong faculty team of 180 members, including 28 professors and 58 associate professors.
The school has established a comprehensive network of research platforms. Key facilities include the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Energy-Saving Technology and Equipment of Thermal Systems, the Henan Provincial Key Laboratory of Process Heat Transfer and Energy Saving, the Henan Institute of Anti-Fatigue Manufacturing, the Henan Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing, and the Henan Engineering Technology Research Center for Biomass High-Value Utilization.
It also actively participates in the development of two national laboratories focusing on low-carbon mining equipment and intelligent tunnel boring machines.
The school's research strengths include anti-fatigue manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent inspection and fault diagnosis, energy-saving technologies, thermal-fluid science and engineering, and advanced thermal equipment. Through extensive industry-university-research collaboration, it has achieved a series of influential technological innovations, contributing significantly to the machinery, automotive, and energy sectors.
The school maintains close international collaborations with universities and research institutions in over 10 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and Hong Kong, enhancing its global reputation and academic influence.
The school currently operates a postdoctoral research station in power engineering and engineering thermophysics and offers doctoral programs in power engineering and engineering thermophysics, aircraft structural safety, and mechanical engineering. It also offers two national first-class undergraduate programs in mechanical engineering and process equipment and control engineering. There are currently over 600 doctoral and master's students and more than 1,800 undergraduates enrolled at the school.
