The School of Fine Arts at Zhengzhou University is a pioneering department which was established in 2001, following the university's merger. Over the past two decades, the school has cultivated a comprehensive art discipline system, drawing inspiration from leading art institutions nationwide. It has solidified a reputation as a hub for artistic talent development, research, and creativity in Henan province.
The school offers two primary master's degree programs — fine arts and art master, with fine arts designated as a key provincial discipline and a priority for doctoral program development. It offers three undergraduate majors in painting, sculpture, and visual communication design. It's sculpture program has been recognized as a national-level top-tier undergraduate program, while painting and visual communication design have been identified as top-tier programs in Henan province.
The school comprises five departments — Chinese painting, oil painting, sculpture, art design, and art history — along with five key research bases, two provincial humanities and social sciences research centers, three school-level research institutions, and six studios. With a faculty of 56 members, including professors, associate professors, and doctoral supervisors, the school boasts a diverse and accomplished teaching staff.
Through a series of successful exhibitions and academic conferences, the school has showcased the artistic achievements of its faculty members and students at prestigious venues such as China Art Museum. These events have not only highlighted the school's creative output but also facilitated academic exchanges and collaboration on a national and international scale.
