Zhengzhou University's Henan Medical College organized the China-Canada Medical Education High-Level Forum of Zhengzhou University (ZZU) on July 2. The forum aimed to facilitate exchanges and cooperation in the field of medical education between China and Canada, promoting talent development and fostering innovation in research achievements.
Distinguished experts and scholars from the medical education sectors of China and Canada attended the forum. Key figures included Verna Yiu, provost of the University of Alberta and Brenda Hemmelgarn, academician of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. Over 200 faculty and graduate scholars from ZZU's medical schools participated in substantive discussions.
The opening ceremony, presided over by Dong Zigang, academic vice-president of Zhengzhou University and dean of Henan Medical College, emphasized the forum's significance in promoting innovation and development in medical education.
During the academic presentations, experts delivered insightful speeches on various topics. Yiu outlined the future development plans and vision of the University of Alberta. Hemmelgarn emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary education in medical education, while Dennis Kunimoto presented the current status of medical education at the University of Alberta.
Chen Xuemei and Li Pei from Zhengzhou University discussed topics such as medical education reform and excellent physician training practices under national health strategies, sharing ZZU's practices and explorations in medical education.
The forum not only provided a platform for experts and scholars in medical education to exchange ideas but also laid a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between the two countries. Future collaborations will focus on talent development, research, and furthering the high-quality development of China-Canada medical education.
