Zhengzhou University (ZZU) achieved remarkable success at the 11th China Undergraduate Medical Innovation Tournament and the Belt and Road International Competition, held from Aug 16 to 18 at Shandong University.
Organized by the China Undergraduate Medical Innovation Tournament Committee, this prestigious event saw ZZU's teams excel with their rigorous academic approach and confident presentations, earning three gold, seven silver, and five bronze awards, setting new records for both gold and overall medals.
In the preventive medicine track, the College of Public Health's project on the impact of neonicotinoid pesticide exposure on chronic kidney disease won a gold medal and the best academic award, advancing to the championship round. The university was honored with the outstanding organization award, highlighting its comprehensive strength and the internationalization of its medical education.
As one of only two teams on the "Belt and Road" international track, ZZU's team was invited to participate in the parade during the opening ceremony, showcasing its strong presence in the development of global medical education.

The China Undergraduate Medical Innovation Tournament and the Belt and Road International Competition is one of the most influential and prestigious contests in China's medical field. This year's competition featured six tracks and an international segment, with 820 teams from over 200 universities across 10 countries competing in the finals. Participants demonstrated their innovative research skills through presentations and defenses, underscoring China's significant achievements in fostering medical innovation talent.
