The 5th International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Green Technology, in conjunction with the 13th Global Conference on Global Warming (GCGW-SEGT 2025), was recently held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Jointly organized by Ontario Tech University, University of Malaya (UM), and De La Salle University, the conference focused on "Innovative Solutions for Quality Environment and Sustainable Development". It aimed to address key aspects related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including energy, environment, climate, and public health, attracting experts, researchers, and industry representatives from over 20 countries.
Prof Deng Qihong from Zhengzhou University's (ZZU) College of Public Health was invited to present a report titled "The Link Between Global Warming and Obesity". His presentation explored the impact of climate change on the rising global obesity rates, sharing the latest research findings from his institution. Additionally, three faculty members and three doctoral students from ZZU delivered oral academic reports at sub-venues.
During the conference, Deng was appointed as a visiting professor at UM, recognizing his academic contributions and paving the way for deeper collaboration between ZZU and UM in research, talent development, and academic exchange.
In recent years, ZZU's School of Public Health has made significant strides in climate change and health research. The school has been instrumental in establishing the climate change and health committee of the Chinese Environmental Mutagen Society and the climate and health branch of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, contributing significantly to global climate health research and public health advancement.
