Zhengzhou University (ZZU) hosted the Interdisciplinary Social Innovation Course Association 2025 Student Project Exhibition, Competition and Curriculum Design from Aug 23 to 24.
Co-organized by the innovation and entrepreneurship education branch of Henan Association of Higher Education, Academy of Future Education of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), and ZZU's School of Fine Arts, the event attracted representatives from 28 universities nationwide, focusing on the themes of interdisciplinary collaboration, social innovation, and curriculum development.
Wang Haijie, vice-president of ZZU, emphasized the crucial role that humanities and social sciences play in shaping values and character. He highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary integration as a key direction for higher education reform, aligning with national academic development goals and the "AI + Education" trend. This initiative aims to foster innovative talent capable of meeting future societal needs.
During the event, 33 teams from 14 universities competed in categories such as technological inventions, cultural civilization, and social governance, presenting solutions and vying for awards. Participants discussed in depth the curriculum optimization path through five theme forums, promoting the construction of standardization system and the industry-academia integration. Esteemed scholars, including Joseph Seet from XJTLU and Luca Fois from Politecnico di Milano, shared insights on educational innovation.
Initiated in 2019, the Interdisciplinary Social Innovation Course Association seeks to transition education from its traditional focus on knowledge-based exams to real-world problem solving. The 2025 event significantly advanced resource sharing and collaboration among universities, fostering an educational ecosystem for cultivating innovative talent.
Although the exhibition has concluded, ZZU remains committed to interdisciplinary collaboration, empowering future talent, and spreading educational innovation across China.
