Zhengzhou University (ZZU) recently concluded its Cambodian Students' Central Plains Cultural Exchange Program with a closing seminar held at the School of Literature. The event was attended by representatives from ZZU and participating Cambodian students.
In May 2024, Li Peng, president of ZZU, led a delegation to visit the University of Cambodia, discussing a dual degree program in Chinese studies and student exchange initiatives. This visit resulted in the signing of a memorandum to establish a Chinese Language Center and promote ASEAN research.
The successful implementation of the exchange program has strengthened collaboration in academic programs and faculty-student exchanges, laying a solid foundation for comprehensive cooperation between ZZU and ASEAN institutions.
During the seminar, Cambodian students shared their experiences. Chen Jinliang noted significant improvements in his Chinese language skills and a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, expressing admiration for China's rapid development.
A representative from the Office of International Affairs highlighted ZZU's commitment to enhancing its international influence, with the establishment of the Chinese Language Center in Cambodia being a key component. Since 2024, the university has been sending full-time teachers and volunteers to Cambodia, achieving remarkable results in Chinese language education and academic development.
The month-long program included intensive Chinese language courses and cultural excursions to Luoyang, Anyang, Zhengzhou, and Kaifeng. Students immersed themselves in traditional Chinese arts, while participating in youth exchanges and discussions, which facilitated mutual understanding and strengthened ties between Chinese and Cambodian youth.
