Salamatu Shehu Mohammed, director of the Department of Planning and Policy at Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, recently visited Zhengzhou University (ZZU). She was welcomed by Wang Haijie, vice-president of ZZU, along with representatives from the Office of International Affairs and the School of Architecture.
Wang extended a warm welcome to the Nigerian delegation and provided an overview of ZZU's unique educational approach and achievements in internationalization. He emphasized the university's commitment to an open educational philosophy, focusing on both local education and international collaborations, particularly with Nigerian universities. He also expressed a desire to continue educational exchanges, faculty and student visits, and joint research, thus enhancing Sino-African cooperation.
Salamatu expressed gratitude for the hospitality and highlighted the importance of innovation and technological advancement for Nigeria's sustainable development. She acknowledged ZZU's expertise in technological innovation and international talent development as valuable insights for Nigeria. She hoped to leverage this visit to learn from the university's advanced practices in discipline development, faculty building, and talent cultivation to aid Nigeria's educational reforms.
In 2025, ZZU's School of Architecture, in collaboration with Shenzhen University and the University of Abuja, plans to apply for a national key research and development project. This initiative aims to establish a joint China-Nigeria laboratory focused on thermal safety and green living standards, promoting international cooperation and localized application of green technologies and standards.
