The "Zhongjing Adventure" event took place from Nov 13 to 14 in Nanyang, Central China's Henan province. The event brought together eight international medical students from Zhengzhou University (ZZU), representing countries such as Ethiopia, Morocco, Bangladesh, Mexico, and Iran, who delved into the rich tapestry of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in this historic and culturally vibrant city.

During the two-day program, the students learned about Zhang Zhongjing, a pivotal figure in TCM history, and his enduring contributions, experienced therapies like moxibustion and cupping, gaining firsthand insight into TCM practices, and witnessed the production of moxa. Additionally, they explored TCM artifacts and international collaborations and observed the processing of medicinal herbs, deepening their appreciation of TCM's cultural heritage.
The students engaged in hands-on experiences of techniques such as cupping and acupuncture. A doctoral student from Ethiopia said: "It was my first time trying cupping and moxibustion — it not only relieved my back and neck pain but also helped me truly feel the power of TCM."
This event not only served as an exploration of TCM culture but also fostered a bridge for cross-cultural medical exchange. The international students expressed a deeper understanding and appreciation of TCM, inspiring them to integrate this knowledge with their Western medical studies. ZZU plans to continue such initiatives, enhancing global awareness and appreciation of TCM.
