Zhengzhou University (ZZU) welcomed a delegation from the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) on Nov 24, led by Vice-President Sankar Viswanathan. The visit underscored the continued strengthening of educational ties between the two universities.
Zang Shuangquan, vice-president of ZZU, met with the delegation, outlining the university's recent progress in talent development, discipline advancement, and global engagement. He expressed appreciation for VIT's longstanding partnership, particularly through the joint Confucius Institute established in 2007, emphasizing ZZU's ongoing commitment to deepening substantive cooperation with leading Indian universities like VIT as part of its broader strategy to enhance internationalization.

Viswanathan acknowledged the strong foundation built through the Confucius Institute and voiced his enthusiasm for expanding collaboration in areas such as management, computer science, artificial intelligence, automotive engineering, and finance. He proposed further enriching the partnership through increased faculty and student exchanges, short-term visits, and joint research projects.
During the visit, the two universities signed a renewed strategic cooperation memorandum and an agreement to continue their joint operation of the Confucius Institute.
VIT, founded in 1984, is a comprehensive research university highly regarded in engineering and technology. It ranks 142nd globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by subject for engineering. The Confucius Institute co-established with ZZU has since become a key hub for Chinese language education and testing in India.
