Li Peng, president of Zhengzhou University (ZZU), met with Lori Hocking, pro vice-chancellor of global partnerships for Adelaide University, on April 10 to discuss university internationalization, interdisciplinary innovation, and industry-academia partnerships.
Li highlighted the strong alignment between the two universities in educational philosophy and expressed her hopes to deepen cooperation in education, research, and talent development.
Hocking mentioned the recent merger between the Adelaide University and the University of South Australia, expressing keen interest in cooperation across multiple fields.
The two sides agreed on the importance of cross-disciplinary integration as a core direction for academic development. They reached consensus on several collaborative initiatives, including integrating medical education with AI to create simulation teaching platforms, fostering joint research at the intersection of mechanical engineering and agricultural technology, and leveraging AI data analytics to enhance clinical research in basic sciences.
Both universities also committed to establishing long-term mechanisms for faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and a Sino-Australian AI technology transfer platform focused on their respective strengths.
The productive talks laid a solid foundation for deepening the strategic partnership, with both sides moving swiftly to implement the agreed initiatives.
