Intl Martial Arts Summer Camp at ZZU deepens cultural ties

The 2026 International Martial Arts Summer Camp concluded on July 10 at Zhengzhou University (ZZU). The closing ceremony was attended by university officials, martial arts coaches, and 25 young participants from abroad.

In his address, Sun Baoying, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC ZZU, congratulated the participants on completing the program. He highlighted martial arts as an important part of Chinese culture, embodying values of discipline and perseverance. He encouraged the participants to share their experience with others and become ambassadors of Chinese martial arts in their home countries.

The camp offered systematic training in Shaolin boxing, tai chi, and sanda (Chinese martial arts sparring). Beyond the training sessions, participants also visited the Shaolin Temple and Chenjiagou Tai Chi School, connecting martial arts practice with the cultural heritage of the Central Plains.

Walter Lorini, president of the Italian Wushu Association, expressed his appreciation to ZZU for the well-organized program. He noted that the camp deepened the participants' understanding of Chinese martial arts and expressed hope for continued exchanges.

During the closing ceremony, the participants showcased their achievements through performances of Shaolin boxing, tai chi, and sanda sparring.

The camp was organized under the national-level Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, a platform designed to promote cultural exchange and international understanding through martial arts. This initiative reflects ZZU's commitment to promoting traditional Chinese culture and fostering connections among young people worldwide.
