Li met with G.Q. Max Lu, president of University of Wollongong (UOW) on Aug 18. She noted that ZZU and UOW have maintained a strong partnership for over two decades, with successful joint programs in computer science, electronic information engineering, and telecommunications engineering — programs that have produced nearly 8,000 graduates.

Li proposed upgrading the current collaboration to a formal joint institute and expanding into medical education and biomedical research, leveraging ZZU's 13 affiliated hospitals. Lu expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation into health sciences, nursing, public health, molecular science, and clinical research.

On August 19, Li met with ZZU alumni in Sydney. She briefed them on the university's recent progress and emphasized the importance of alumni networks in supporting talent recruitment and research collaboration. Alumni representatives shared their experiences and expressed commitment to contributing to ZZU's development.

During the visit, the delegation also attended the IDF-WPR 2026 international conference in Melbourne. The trip helped advance ZZU's international engagement strategy and strengthen ties with Australian partners.
