On the afternoon of December 16, Hao Mingjin, vice chairman of NPC Standing Committee and chairman of CDC Central Committee, went to the ZZU with his group to investigate the construction of a First-Class University and held a symposium. Li Weiping, minister of the Organization Department of CDCCC, Gong Liqun, vice chairman of the Provincial CPPCC, and Zhang Xiaolin, deputy secretary-general of the PPC Standing Committee, university leaders Liu Jiongtian, Qu Lingbo, Zhang Qianhong, Xu Dongsheng, Zhao Minghao, Dong Zigang attended the symposium with the participation of personnel in charge of the relevant departments. The symposium was presided over by Wang Zongmin, deputy secretary of the University Party Committee and vice-president of the University.

Liu Jiongtian, vice-chairman of the Provincial CPPCC and president of ZZU, said that the university adheres to the principle of first-class construction, speeds up the pace of transformation development and connotation construction to completes the first-class university construction with high standards. ZZU will continue to promote the modernization of governance capability and system, and contribute intelligent power to helping make the Central Plain greater and build China a great modern socialist country.

Hao Mingjin pointed out that facing the new situation, new pattern and new development, ZZU should seize the opportunity to give full play to the basic support and driving force of higher education, and focus on major national strategic plans and regional economic layout. ZZU should strengthen basic research, promote scientific and technological innovation to cultivate more first-rate talents, and strive to become one of the world-class universities at an early date.

After the symposium, Hao Mingjin and his party visited the Zhengzhou Center for National Supercomputing, listened to the report from vice president Zhao Minghao on the construction, operation and application of the Supercomputing Center, and visited the main computer room and related supporting facilities. He highly evaluated the innovation mode and construction achievements of the Center.
