2018 “ZZU Cup” Eurasian Korfball Competition is Grandly Opened at ZZU

On June 21st, approved by IKF and jointly hosted by National General Administration of Sports and ZZU, 2018 “ZZU Cup” Eurasian Korfball Competition was grandly opened at the Central Gymnasium of ZZU. Huang Yingzhe, Vice Chairman of IKF and Chairman of Asian IKF,Jan•Sjouke van den Bos, Chairman of the Dutch Royal Korfball Association, Zheng Weimin, Secretary General of Asian IKF and Chairman of the Hong Kong Korfball Association of China, Guo Qilin, executive Vice Chairman of the Asian IKF and Chairman of Chinese Korfball Association, Li Junfeng, Director of Henan Provincial Sports Bureau, Li Jinchuan, Deputy Inspector of the Education Department of Henan Province, Niu Shucheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZZU, Li Xingcheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Vice President Wu Hongyang attended the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony started with the solemn national anthem.

Niu Shucheng delivered a speech. He said that ZZU has attached great importance to supporting the development of korfball sports and has formed the spirit of ZZU korfball --- “perseverance, aspiration, tenaciousness and courage”. ZZU would like to be a good host and run the competition well to make new contributions to the development of korfball.

Li Jinchuan said in his speech that he would support ZZU as a good host to run the competition and hold a high-quality international korfball event, hoping the“ZZU Cup” Eurasian Korfball Competition a complete success.

Huang Yingzhe delivered a speech on behalf of IKF. He pointed out that many international first-class teams participated in this event, which will definitely create the world-class new brand of korfball competition and expand the influence of korfball.

Li Junfeng announced the opening of the 2018 “ZZU Cup” Eurasian Korfball Competition.

The opening match was played by the Dutch team against the Chinese Taipei team, and the Dutch team won the match with a score of 24:13. Then the Chinese team played against the Hong Kong China team, and the Chinese team finally won with a score of 16:7.

The event is organized by IKF, Asian IKF, and Dutch Royal Korfball Association. It is the first world event held by universities in Henan Province.(translator Yang Qiuqiu)
